๐ ๏ธ Volunteer โ Give a few hours. Make a real difference.
Behind every cycling event is a team of volunteers โ people who manage registration, course marshaling, feed zones, and make sure everyone gets home safely. Event directors in our region need reliable help, and the community needs people willing to step up.
What Volunteers Do at UCA Events
- โCourse marshal โ stationed at key intersections to direct riders and alert drivers
- โRegistration and check-in โ helping riders get their numbers and get to the start line on time
- โStart/finish support โ timing, lap counting, finish line management
- โFeed zone support โ handing up bottles and food at longer events
- โGeneral event day logistics โ setup, teardown, gear transport
No experience necessary. Most volunteer roles require nothing more than showing up on time, following instructions from the event director, and caring about the sport. You'll learn the rest on the day.
How to Find Volunteer Opportunities
The most direct path is to contact event directors for events you'd like to support. Most events list contact information on their registration page or event website. Check the UCA Events Calendar for upcoming events and reach out directly to the event director.
Interested in Becoming a Licensed Race Official?
If you want to go deeper โ and get paid for your time โ consider becoming a USA Cycling licensed official. Officials are part of the backbone of competitive cycling events: they enforce the rules, manage protests, oversee timing, and ensure every race is run fairly. Our region always needs more licensed officials across all disciplines.
Contact the UCA Events & Officials Coordinator to learn more, or visit USA Cycling Officials for information on licensing and training.
๐ฃ Advocate โ Spread the word. Grow the sport.
Some of the most valuable things you can do for the UCA cost nothing but a few minutes of your time and a genuine enthusiasm for cycling.

- โTell a friend who rides. The single most effective recruitment tool for any sport is personal invitation. If you know someone who rides but has never raced โ or never heard of the UCA โ tell them about it. Point them to utahcycling.com.
- โPost your race experience. A photo from a finish line, a Strava segment, a quick recap of a great event โ all these make cycling look like a community worth joining. Tag us when you post.
- โReview or recommend UCA events on platforms like Strava, BikeReg, or to local cycling groups.
- โHelp with news media outreach. Engaging human interest stories are a staple of news coverage. If you've got a story about your cycling life and are willing to be interviewed, let us know here. If you work for a news media organization, we'd love to connect โ email us at info@utahcycling.com.
