    Re: Sugarhouse Crit!

Thanks for another fun race at Sugarhouse. The race was run well, as always, but I have one suggestion for next year. I know there is only so much we can do about pedestrians in the park. We can't shut it down and keep people out, but the presence of pedestrians on the course poses a real safety issue for riders and pedestrians. I seem to recall in prior years a car leading the pack, which would drive ahead of the group and warn pedestrians. If possible, I think it would be good to do that again in the future. We had several very close calls in the Cat 4 race with pedestrians that didn't hear or see us coming until it was too late to react. There was one incident on the last lap that came within inches of being very ugly.

    Re: Sugarhouse Crit!

Just change the rules so the racers have to stay between the lines.

A motorbike with a working horn would be good.

    Re: Sugarhouse Crit!

At least two of the near-incidents in the Cat 4 race involved pedestrians well outside of the line. One was a small child on a bike and the other was two women walking in the middle of the road. Our pack split to go around both sides of the women, which was quite nearly a disaster.

A motorcycle is a good idea.
