  • Reminder about 2012 Officials Clinic

To all UCA clubs and teams: Remember that it's a requirement to send at least one team or club representative to the officials training. You must fill this requirement to maitain your voting status as a club in good standing.

Please plan to attend the 2012 annual USAC Officials Clinic.  The day will consist of two parts, with all new officials taking the course starting in the morning and then the current officials attending the afternoon for updates from USAC and the UCA.  Please pass this onto other email lists or individuals that may be interested.  If you have any questions, please contact me directly. Also, please RSVP directly to cyorgason@comcast.net so we can have enough material for the class.

We want to thank the UVU Cycling Team for hosting this event and getting us the room to use for the day.

    Here’s to a great 2012 Season!

We will have a workgroup meeting to discuss the Masters categories issues at 5:00 pm. This meeting is open to anyone.  The purpose is to come to agreement on the masters categories before the General Meeting. The General Meeting will Begin at 6:30 pm at the Same Location.

The UCA Awards Banquet will be held at the same location the following Thursday, November 17th at 6:30 pm. We will be awarding all UCA categories (except the cat 5s) from the 2011 season. If you are not sure about your placing, see this web site "standings" buttons. The Top 3 riders will receive a nice award that is similar to what we awarded last year! They are very nice. The winners—the UCA 2011 Champions—will receive beautiful jerseys from Blackbottoms. They are a unique design made especially to celebrate the UCA points championships. We are also awarding the #1 Team from the 2011 UCA season.

All who are receiving an award please come to this Banquet or have someone pick up your award for you.

The Awards Banquet will be jointly hosted by the Utah Crit Series Awards.

We are in the process of finalizing the dinner plans. It will probably be similar to last year, but we are trying to figure out pricing and the menu. Those details to follow.

  • UCA ANNUAL MEETING AND AWARDS BANQUET

    Good Morning:

Please put the following two dates on your calendar:

November 10, 2011 6:30 pm (site to be determined) – General UCA Meeting.  Please submit agenda items and proposed bylaw amendments to my no later than November 3, 2011.  I know that this is a little short notice, but I am sure that we can get it done.

November 17, 2011 6:30 pm (site to be determined) – Annual UCA and Crit Series Awards Banquet.  (this date is subject to change based on Marek’s needs).  This is always a great evening to celebrate individual and team accomplishments.  The UCA heavily subsidizes the dinner so it shouldn’t be too expensive.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • High Uintas State Race

The 23rd annual High Uintas State Race is this weekend, June 18-19 in Evanston. Please come out and support this great race!

As of Thursday morning, online registration entries are down as compared to last year. We hope that online registration will strengthen throughout the day and evening. Our benchmark for online and on-site registration is a minimum of about 350 competitors. This will help to ensure a successful race this year and allow us to plan for next year's race.

It appears there may have been a glitch with online fees for our Competitive and Recreational Citizen racers. The entry fee for Citizen racers is $65 which includes the one day license of $10. With the online service fee, the total cost to register online is about $71. If you paid more than this, we will credit your account or refund what you overpaid.

If you are hesitant about participating this year because Bald Mountain Pass is closed, please know that the road race course from Evanston to the snowline and back to Evanston or the Ranger Station will still be very challenging.

If you are hesitant about competing this weekend because of the possibility of cooler weather, please know that we will have "Rockin' Robin's Shuttle Fleet" positioned at various locations from North Slope Road to the snowline, ready to respond immediately if necessary. Your welfare is our number one priority.

The Evanston Cycling Club Board of Directors has WAIVED the additional $10 day of race fee on Saturday morning. There will NOT be a $10 day of race fee on Saturday morning.

This is a legendary snow year! This year's race will be legendary! Don't miss being part of the legend by registering online today, tomorrow evening or Saturday morning in Evanston.

Online registration closes on Friday, June 17th at 12:59 a.m. MDT. On-site registration in Evanston at the Wyoming State Hospital will be held on Friday evening, June 17th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and on Saturday morning, June 18th from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Utah State Crit Championships!

This Saturday is the Pioneer Park Downtown Crit/Utah State Crit Championships. This is a great race and there are always a lot of spectators to make it exciting.  Online registration will be open ‘til Noon on Friday, so there is no excuse that you forgot to register on Thursday night. The weather looks like it will be 76 degrees and sunny. You can’t ask for a better forecast. Hope to see you all out there!

  • USU Cycling Classic

The USU Cycling classic is coming up this weekend! This year, we're
hosting the Intermountain Collegiate Cycling Conference Championships,
but we wanted to make sure to invite as many non-collegiate riders as
possible to make things more competitive and fun. For those of you who
aren't doing East Canyon, it's a good chance to get in a 3-stage race
(crit, RR, and TTT) for only $50. The weekend weather looks good so
far (low 50s with a small chance of rain), so pack your arm warmers
and come to Logan for a great race.

For more info, visit our race site at http://usuclassic.blogspot.com/
    or email me at ben.siler@gmail.com.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Please note this race is a NON UCA Points race

  • Utah High School Mountain Biking

Help youth cycling grow in Utah by "liking" our page at facebook.com/utahhsmtbike!
Utah High School Mountain Biking is applying with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) to become a league for 2012. NICA is the governing body for high school cycling in the US. Partnered with The Positive Coaching Alliance, they provide education and certification of league coaches. They also provide skills clinics for the kids, governing/sanctioning of races, and the means and sponshorship to get our league up and running. This will be a great thing for Utah's kids! Cycling is fun and can provide life-long health and fitness, meet the needs of those kids not in mainstream sports, build self esteem and have a positive affect academically . Check out our facebook page or utahhsmtb.blogspot.com for more information. Want to help?  Email loriharward@comcast.net or justhomas@hotmail.com
